Portraits in Berlin is part of an ongoing series where I wander the city, introducing myself to strangers and asking them questions about their lives. Each photograph emerges from a brief exchange — a moment of curiosity, trust, and human connection.
Before I pick up the camera, I start with a question.
"I wonder if she still tells people this was her favorite."
"Do you think this boat tour is actually 3 hours?" "Currents are punctual. People? Not so much."
"Every book I sell has a fortune cookie inside that I wrote myself."
"I'm sorry, I really don't think I will be able to get her to pose."
"Man, are you really taking a picture of me right now?"
